Is Tulsa a good place to live?

Tulsa grades D− overall, better than 3% of U.S. towns, mostly because of safety and schools. Its police reported 3,417 violent crimes reported to the FBI in 2025, a higher rate per resident than 97% of U.S. towns. Its public schools trail 94% of Oklahoma towns on state tests and graduation. What it does well: it has 160 miles of trail. 61% of working residents work locally in Tulsa, above both Oklahoma’s towns (22%) and U.S. towns (8%). Its National Register listings include Boston Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church and Cain's Dancing Academy. Only 15 of Oklahoma’s 227 towns score higher on walkability.
