Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Some state privacy laws, including California’s, give you the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. Here is where TownRatings stands.

01TownRatings doesn’t sell or share your personal information

We don’t sell personal information, we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising, and we don’t use it for profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects. TownRatings shows no ads and works with no data brokers. If that ever changes, we’ll update this page before it does.

02What “sell” and “share” mean

Under California law, “selling” means making personal information available to another business for money or other valuable consideration, and “sharing” means making it available for advertising aimed at you based on your activity across other businesses’ sites and apps. Giving information to our service providers so they can run the site for us (hosting, security, email; see the Privacy Policy) is neither.

03Global Privacy Control

Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a setting in some browsers and extensions that tells every site you visit not to sell or share your information. TownRatings honors it as a valid opt-out request: because we don’t sell or share, nothing needs switching off today, and if we ever add a feature that would count as selling or sharing, visitors whose browsers send GPC will be opted out of it automatically.

Your browser isn’t sending a Global Privacy Control signal right now. You don’t need one: we don’t sell or share personal information either way.

04Send an opt-out request anyway

You’re welcome to record an opt-out request, for yourself or as someone’s authorized agent: use our contact form or email [email protected] and say “Do not sell or share my personal information”. You don’t need an account, and we won’t ask you to prove who you are for an opt-out. We’ll confirm we’ve recorded it.

05Your other privacy rights

To see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to close your account, see Your choices and rights in our Privacy Policy. We won’t treat you differently for using any of these rights.
