Each edition grades its towns against each other only.

Woodbridge’s grades pull in different directions. Cost of living is its weak spot (D): the typical home is worth about $587K, 6.4 years of the Stockton metro’s $92K median household income. Incomes are its strong suit: the median household earns $94K. Health is a strength too: residents are healthier than 73% of U.S. towns on CDC estimates. Overall, that makes a C, good for 390th of 841 in California. That leaves it better than 30% of U.S. towns. Hazard risk is weaker too — FEMA rates its natural-hazard risk higher than 81% of U.S. communities, with drought at the top. The town’s trail density is 1.9 miles per square mile, above both California’s towns (1.0) and U.S. towns (0.4).
