Easy on the wallet, harder on other counts. Its weakest is walkability (D). Most errands need a car: it is less walkable than 93% of U.S. towns. Incomes are weaker too — the median household income is $61K, and 18% of residents live below the poverty line. Hazard risk is weaker too: FEMA rates its natural-hazard risk higher than 96% of U.S. communities, with hurricanes at the top. Cost of living is its strong suit: a typical home costs about $310K, 3.9 years of the Daphne metro’s $79K median household income. Schools are another plus — its schools outperform nearly two thirds of the state's. The overall grade lands at C+, 68th of 187 in Alabama. On that grade it does better than 43% of U.S. towns.
