Each edition grades its towns against each other only.

Strawberry Plains grades B+ overall, better than 70% of U.S. towns, and ranks 25th of 175 in Tennessee. Cost of living is its strong suit: a typical home costs about $297K, 4.9 years of the Morristown metro’s $61K median household income. Incomes are another plus: the median household earns $75K. What holds it back is walkability (D−). Most errands need a car: it is less walkable than 97% of U.S. towns. Health is weaker too — CDC estimates put its residents' health behind nearly four fifths of the country. Only 22 of Tennessee’s 292 towns score higher on hazard risk. On the outdoors, just 6 of Tennessee’s 292 towns do worse.
