Free Afternoon Fun

With the kids out of school or a dog eager for a walk on a beautiful day like today, I'm looking for a great local spot to take them where we can enjoy the outdoors and the scenery of Lake Superior. Given our city's location on the shores of the lake, I'm thinking there must be a perfect spot to soak up the views and get some exercise. What's your favorite local spot to take the kids or a dog on a free afternoon?
