Milton's Founding Story

I was reading about the history of our town and stumbled upon the fact that Milton was likely named after William Fitzwilliam, 4th Earl Fitzwilliam, who held the title Viscount Milton and supported independence for the colonies during the American Revolution. I wondered if our newer residents know about this interesting piece of our town's origins - do you know the story behind how Milton got its name?
