New to Richmond Michigan

I just moved to Richmond and I'm excited to explore my new hometown, which I've learned is part of the Metro Detroit area in Michigan. Since the city has a relatively low median home value compared to the rest of the US, I'm guessing it's a great place to settle down - what are the top three things I should do or try first to get a feel for the local community?
