Why does Yardley grade so well?

Yardley is one of the best-graded places in America: an A+, ranked 86th of 1032 in Pennsylvania. Residents are healthier than 94% of U.S. towns on CDC estimates, crime is low: it reports less per resident than 89% of U.S. towns, and its schools outperform 86% of the state's. The exception is hazard risk: FEMA rates its natural-hazard risk higher than 81% of U.S. communities, with inland flooding at the top. History is its standout character grade: an A+, better than 99% of U.S. towns, with 2 places on the National Register. Yardley’s trail density is 2.3 miles per square mile, above both Pennsylvania’s towns (0.4) and U.S. towns (0.4). Few places in the country are easier to get around without a car. On history, just 42 of Pennsylvania’s 1,749 towns do better.
