Ohio towns list about as much on the Register as the country (a typical Ohio town has 2.9 per 10,000 residents, the U.S. 2.4), so Lafayette Township’s 9.3 sits above most of its state (74% of Ohio towns have fewer) while its 4 historic buildings outnumber those of 68% of U.S. towns.

How sure. Graded on two of the three inputs, so a change in either one moves the letter more than it would with three. The pre-1940 share is a Census survey estimate (±5.6 points).

Among the mounds plowed dow-n years ago was one in Oxford Township thirty feet wide. A circle enclosing three acres north of West Lafayette and several mounds of Lafayette Township were obliterated bv the plow, one on the Shaw estate, one cut away by the railroad on the Ferguson farm, and another leveled on the Higbee place. Seventy years ago the river road in Franklin Township leveled a mound containing half a dozen skeletons arranged like the radii of a circle, with heads toward the center.
