Is Estelle a good place to live?

More weak spots than strong ones. Where it falls short is health: residents are less healthy than 87% of U.S. towns on CDC estimates. It also trails on hazard risk — FEMA rates its natural-hazard risk higher than 95% of U.S. communities, with hurricanes at the top. Homes run about $217K for a typical one, 3.5 times the New Orleans metro’s $63K median household income. Its best grade is for schools: its public schools beat 57% of Louisiana towns on state tests and graduation. The overall grade lands at D, 126th of 161 in Louisiana. That leaves it better than 13% of U.S. towns. Only 23 of Louisiana’s 254 towns score lower on history.
