Hotel Covell was added to the National Register of Historic Places on Dec 29, 1994. It is significant for its architecture at the local level. Its architecture is described as Late 19th and 20th Century Revival and Beaux Arts and Italian Renaissance.
Hotel Covell was a historic hotel in downtown Modesto, California. The first construction of the building was completed in 1924. A second addition was completed in 1928. The hotel operated from its inception in 1924 until closing in the 1980s. With the second addition to the building, the total number of hotel rooms was brought to 120. It was acclaimed as "one of the finest hotels of its day" and played an integral …
