Is Crockett a good place to live?

The picture is mixed. Its weakest is cost of living: the typical home is worth about $659K, 4.8 years of the San Francisco metro’s $136K median household income. It lags on schools as well: its schools rank behind 73% of the state's. Hazard risk is weaker too: FEMA rates its natural-hazard risk higher than 90% of U.S. communities, with earthquakes at the top. Where it does best is walkability — it is easier to get around on foot or by transit than 95% of U.S. towns. All told, that adds up to a C overall and a rank of 389th of 841 in California. Set against the rest, it does better than 30% of U.S. towns. On history, just 37 of California’s 1,063 towns do better.
