Damascus Size and Heart

I was thinking about how Damascus covers just 0.8 sq mi in area, which is relatively small, but sometimes when I'm out and about, it feels like the town stretches out a bit more than that. I wonder, where do you think the heart of our town really is, and does Damascus feel bigger or smaller to you than it does on a map?
