Remembering Island Lake

I was out for a walk around Island Lake the other day and it got me thinking about how our village has changed over the years. With the lake and its small island being such a central part of our community, I wonder what used to stand where some of our current homes and businesses are now. What used to be there before the houses and buildings that surround the lake today?
