New to Long Beach

I just moved to Long Beach and I'm excited to explore my new home, especially with the beautiful partly sunny weather today. I've heard the August Kite Festival is a lot of fun, so I'm looking forward to checking that out next year. What are some of the first things I should do or try in Long Beach to get a feel for the community?
