Free Afternoon Fun

With the sunny weather sticking around this week, I was thinking of taking my kids out for a fun afternoon. Given our small town's charm and the fact that we have plenty of space to roam around in our 0.4 sq mi area, I'm wondering what's the best local spot to take them on a free afternoon, maybe somewhere they can run around and enjoy the outdoors?
