Why does Tarrytown grade so well?

Tarrytown is one of the best-graded places in America: an A+, 49th of 745 graded towns in New York. CDC estimates put its residents' health ahead of 97% of the country, it reports less crime per resident than 89% of U.S. towns, and its schools rank ahead of 81% of New York towns. The exception is cost of living: the typical home is worth about $894K, 9 years of the New York metro’s $99K median household income. History is its standout character grade: an A, better than 90% of U.S. towns. 65% of adults 25 and older hold a bachelor’s degree or more in Tarrytown, where New York’s towns sit at 32% and U.S. towns at 29%. Few places in the country are easier to get around without a car. Only 19 of New York’s 1,216 towns score higher on the outdoors.
