Is Florida a good place to live?

Florida is one of the best-graded places in America: an A, ranked 73rd of 745 in New York. It reports less crime per resident than 98% of U.S. towns, residents are healthier than 83% of U.S. towns on CDC estimates, and it is easier to get around on foot or by transit than 77% of U.S. towns. The exception is cost of living: homes are expensive, about $474K for a typical one and 4.8 times the Kiryas Joel metro’s $98K median household income. Florida’s median rent is $1,937 a month, above both New York’s towns ($1,098 a month) and U.S. towns ($1,185 a month). On civic life, just 63 of New York’s 1,187 towns do better.
