Helotes Then and Now

I've been wondering what it was like to grow up in Helotes, especially considering the town has been around since 1880 and was settled by German and Spanish settlers in the 1850s. What did a perfect ordinary day look like for you back then, perhaps walking around the area that is now part of the San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area?
