La synagogue de Cavaillon, située rue Hébraïque, l’une des plus anciennes synagogues françaises, est édifiée par les Juifs comtadins de Cavaillon à la fin du Moyen Âge au XVe siècle, les juifs ayant obtenu de l'évêque de Cavaillon l'autorisation de la construire en 1494. C'est peut-être sur les substructions de ce premier édifice qu'a lieu la reconstruction du XVIIIe siècle, dont la communauté prend la décision à l'automne 1771.
