About Château
Château is the only classé historic monument in Bouteville, the higher of France’s two levels of protection. In 2018 it was among the monuments in danger picked by the Mission Patrimoine, which the heritage lottery funds. The list dates its work to 1595 (16th & 17th c.). It has been classé since 1984.
Le château de Bouteville, dont il ne reste qu'une ruine imposante, a été le siège d'une puissante chatellenie et un des plus beaux châteaux de Charente. Il est situé dans la commune de Bouteville, proche de Châteauneuf-sur-Charente.
